Renzie voluntarily removed himself from the hectic Metro Manila lifestyle, and moved to Amadeo, Cavite, just outside Tagaytay where he can wake up to the sound of roosters, and freshly brewed coffee in the morning.
By day, he manages a specialty cake shop. On weekends, he studies real estate management. In his spare time, he tinkers with websites. He loves DC action figures, the smell of paperback books, and KFC Hot N' Krispy.
Since we were celebrating New Year 2018 at the New World Hotel in Makati City, we thought we might as well try out their popular Chinese restaurant, Jasmine, at the second level.
Jasmine offers authentic Chinese dishes created by renowned Hong Kong chef Wong Kam On. New Year's Eve was a particularly busy night for the restaurant, but we nevertheless got an 8PM reservation, allowing us lots of time to enjoy a nice leisurely dinner.
I’ve been working with WordPress for over 10 years now. In 2007, I started using WordPress.com (in fact, you could still find my old blogs online), and found that it was a robust and highly-customizeable content management system. While it wasn’t as simple as Blogspot (now Blogger) or Livejournal back then, WordPress has withstood the test of time, and continues to evolve and grow in popularity so that more than 60 million websites around the world now use WordPress. My first real job was as an FM radio announcer (a DJ, if you will) for 99.5RT. This was back in 1994, I was on my fourth year of B.S. Physical Therapy in UP Manila, and my first assignment was the graveyard shift (2am to 6am everyday). It was at RT that I had my foundation for broadcasting, and I’ve also learned to capitalize on my work credentials to land more gigs hosting events and doing voice-over work for TVs, commercials, and AVPs. In 2007, just when digital marketing was starting to gain ground here in the Philippines, I got turned on by the idea of learning Search Engine Optimization. It was an entirely new discipline altogether, and there weren’t a lot of practitioners at the time, so I thought I’d get in on some of that myself.
As far as I can remember, I’ve been putting my written communication skills to good use in just about any job or project I’ve been involved with.
These days, most of my writing would be for the various sites that I manage, which means a lot of articles geared towards certain keywords (for good SEO), as well as blurbs for social media, B2B and B2C correspondences, sales and marketing materials, and newsletters. There was a time when I didn’t have this confidence I do now to speak in public. I still remember a time back in elementary school when I all but froze reciting “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” in front of my 4th grade classmates.
Thanks to my training in FM radio, hosting an event is now almost second nature to me. Back in the late ’90’s to the mid-2000s, I would emcee a whole bunch of events for the radio station– movie premieres, campus/bar/office tours, themed parties, and concerts.
